Council approved 50%+1 — passed on the first vote

[Complex name], Surrey, BC

The building

[28-unit low-rise apartment, built [year], Surrey BC. Surface and covered parking mix. [XXX]A single-phase service.]

The problem

Three owners had EVs, another six were planning to buy one within two years. The building had no EV infrastructure and the property manager had received competing proposals ranging from $40,000 to over $100,000.

The council was hesitant to spend that kind of money for eight potential users.

What changed

The council president called VTeng after finding the site. We did a free site assessment within a week and came back with a written proposal: Hub at $[X,XXX] installed, no commitment from owners required, Edges at $[XXX]–$[XXX] per stall as owners opted in.

She brought the comparison table — Mesh vs. panel upgrade vs. do nothing — to the AGM.

The vote

28 units. 19 in favour, 4 opposed, 5 absent. Well above the 50%+1 threshold. First vote.

Results

  • Hub cost to strata: $[X,XXX] installed
  • Time from first contact to Hub installed: 6 weeks
  • Chargers installed in first 6 months: [X]
  • Vote result: 19–4 on first attempt
