mesh
For Residents

Your strata approved Mesh. Here's what happens next.

Getting an EV charger in your stall is straightforward. You arrange it, you pay for it, and the system handles the rest automatically.

1

Choose your EV charger

Mesh works with any standard Level 2 (J1772) charger. Pick what works for your vehicle and budget — your electrician can advise. You'll also need a Mesh Edge, available through your installer.

2

Your electrician installs the charger and a Mesh Edge

Hire a licensed BC electrician (or use one from our installer network). They install your charger and a small Mesh Edge device in your stall. One visit, typically a few hours.

3

You charge — the system manages load automatically

Your charger works like any other. On busy nights when multiple units are charging simultaneously, Mesh may briefly reduce your charge rate — your car will still be ready in the morning.

Your questions, answered

Will Mesh slow down my charging?
Usually no. Mesh only reduces charging rates when total building demand is near the limit — typically late evenings when multiple owners are charging at once. Your car will almost always be fully charged by morning. If you need guaranteed full speed, schedule your charging for off-peak hours.
Do I pay a monthly fee?
No. There are no monthly fees, no per-charge fees, and no subscription. You pay your normal BC Hydro bill for the electricity you use. The hardware cost is a one-time expense.
What if I sell my unit?
The Mesh Edge stays with the stall and transfers with the unit. The new owner benefits from the charger you installed. You can disclose it as a feature — it adds value.
What if I get a different EV?
Mesh works with any Level 2 charger and any electric vehicle. Changing cars has no effect on the system.
Who do I call if my charger stops working?
For your charger hardware, contact the charger manufacturer. For anything related to the Mesh Edge or load management, contact VTeng directly at 604-771-5543.

Want to bring this to your strata?

If your building doesn't have Mesh yet, you can push for it. Here's a short email you can forward to your strata council or property manager.

Subject: EV charging for our building — worth a look Hi [Council President / Property Manager name], I wanted to flag a system called VT Mesh by VT Engineering that lets buildings like ours support EV charging without a panel upgrade or special levy. The short version: the strata approves and pays for a Hub that installs in the electrical room in one day. Each owner who wants a charger then arranges and pays for their own Edge and charger — no further council action needed. I thought it was worth getting a quote. Their site is mesh.vteng.ca and they offer free site visits with no obligation. [Your name], Unit [XXX]
